Visible Sound
Grace Digney uses the Eidophone to make sound visible.
The apparatus she uses, called the ‘Eidophone’, is accessible to all, particularly those interested in speech, singing and the science of sound: Cymatics.
The vibrations from the sound travel down the apparatus and bounce off the membrane, forming patterns in the sand. Depending on the pitch, volume and tone of the sound, the pattern differs.
Her work has practical applications in developing singing abilities, in speech therapies as well as with people who have visual impairments.
